I think the challenge with this piece is that it tries to present a nuanced, balanced view of a static character. And based on the limited observations available to those of us with no special access or insight, Elon seems in no way static; rather, it seems like he is in a self-destructive spiral of poor decision making and mental unbalance. However much nuance you apply to his -- quite impressive -- previous actions and decisions, it's not clear that the description applies to the next decade, or even the last year or two, of his decline.
The man has bet his fortune and company multiple times and has come out on top every time. You can't do that without extreme skill and vision. The implementation is what is heavily critiqued.
