For your context:
I am working on a Generative AI SaaS tool that helps to extract insights out of qualitative feedback data (e.g. Voice of the Customer Surveys, NPS surveys, Employee satisfaction surveys, Expert or Customer interviews, etc.)
My initial approach was to build a vertical-specific tool that saves a lot of time for a high-value-ad industry, so I targeted consultants. I was able to get a few paid design partnerships with consulting firms (commercial due diligence, HR, strategy etc.). I thought everything was going great.
Now, 6 months later I realized I built a more or less custom solution for each of these companies. It is I who became the consultant…
These design partners use and pay for my MVPs but I can’t seem to find an overlap to scale my SaaS product. I have regular usage and high recurring revenue per user (one customer pays $1k / month / active user…), but each customer runs a different version of the product, and they mainly use different features. Although there is a topical connection in the use cases, i.e. it is always qualitative feedback data in a tabular format, the workflows of my users are different and so are my MVPs. I have a hard time scaling…
How could I make one product out of all my MVPs that is also useful to other users beyond my initial design partners?
Is this a common trap? Has anyone had this issue before?
Thanks for the tips :)
