Article's focus is the search for a new method. Okay. But it's strikingly immoral to unquestioningly repeat the lie that it was a humane execution - it wasn't even close (<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/25/alabama-executes-kenneth-smith-nitrogen-gas" rel="nofollow">https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/25/alabama-exec...</a>) and to euphemistically use the medically meaningless 'nitrogen hypoxia' term.<p>There are some exceedingly cruel people in charge who could order this - twice - knowing the risk. But it is downright Orwellian to outright lie and call it humane. Whether or not he deserved to die, not one deserves to be tortured to death. Shame.
