Show HN: Plan a square-unit garden in an offline PWA with your data all yours

4 pointsby jodacolaover 1 year ago
I was stuck inside a few weeks ago because of a big freeze we got here, and all I could do was dream about being outside!
I've been gardening for a few years now, and I've done lots of paper and spreadsheet planning of my gardens, but I found I kept stumbling keeping everything accurate and in order.
So, while I was stuck inside freezing, I decided to throw together a little app that would help me track what I want to plant, when I need to sow, and what seeds and plants I still need to buy. I also used it as an excuse to play more with PWAs and IndexedDB, and the result is Squardener!
It has made my garden planning this year so much easier and I want to share it.
All data is stored locally in IndexedDB and local storage, there's no backend, it's a PWA you can install, and you can export and import your garden data anytime you want.
I hope it helps someone plan and build a garden - come play outside in the sun and dirt with me!
