I’ve just recently talked with a colleague about how existing form builders always heavily limit you the design. Not a Figma user myself though, so I was wondering what the target audience is exactly.
Hey HN! I’m Florian from Weavely (https://www.weavely.ai/). We’re developing a form builder which gives you full control of your forms’ UX and UI by letting you design them directly in Figma. Our Figma plugin [3] converts designs into responsive web forms and hosts them on our servers together with form submissions.
If you’re like me you might think this is bizarrely niche. We initially launched a prototyping tool [1] that transformed Figma designs into full-stack web applications. We decided to pivot away from that idea [2] because the product was too complex and because the little paying users we had were mostly building … forms and surveys.
After talking to these users we found out two key insights. First, there aren’t any (or many) no-code form-building tools that give you complete design freedom. Second, even without heavily customising UX or UI a lot of users just like the fact that they can stay inside of Figma to design and publish their forms and subsequently generate charts and graphs inside of Figma as well.
Our larger vision is a form-building tool tailored to software product teams. Not only custom designs but also generating code that you can integrate directly into your product as a developer.
I’ve learned to appreciate how rare it is to receive honest feedback from people, so don’t hold back! You can use our plugin [3] for free, and can SSO with a Figma account (the requested permissions are imposed by Figma, we don’t actually use all these permissions). We also have some examples [4,5,6,7] you can check to see how far you can push customisation of forms with Weavely.
[1] https://www.figma-prototyping.com/
[2] Our full pivot story: https://medium.com/@fmyter/behind-the-scenes-of-a-pivoting-s...
[3] https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1255122665773297640
[4] Example 1, product feedback survey: https://discover.weavely.ai/nike
[5] Example 2, event registration form: https://discover.weavely.ai/event-registration
[6] Example 3, contact form: https://discover.weavely.ai/contact-form
[7] Example 4, ux survey: https://discover.weavely.ai/ux-survey
