I just bought a zoom h6 to act as an audio interface for a summer project. Not the best preamps, but a lot cheaper than dedicated interface, portable, and comes with stereo mics. It never occurred to me there might be a proprietary interface or lack of driver support on Linux. For some reason, I just assumed there was some standardized hardware/software interface because… the audio world seems more serious and less nonsensical than the software one I guess, at least from my early impressions of it<p>Edit: the h6 does appear to work on Linux, according to Reddit .
