Ask HN: What's with the Flagging of Upvoted Comments?

2 pointsby throwaway118899about 1 year ago
I’ve noticed a concerning effectiveness to brigading/flag spamming that will get comments taken down. My reply to a comment:
‘’’ > My old manager put it best: No politics and religion in the workplace
I wish all the diversity, equity, and inclusion teams at work who host women only events and talk about gender pay gaps over lunch would be considered politics and banned. But for some reason those teams have flipped a middle finger to the no politics rule and have been rewarded for it. ‘’’
Flagged with +3 upvotes.

Mail such questions to hn@ycombinator.com. If you take a look at https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html you'll get decent idea why so many of your comments are sensibly flagged by users. It's not that kind of forum.

that is normal for controversional comments.
controversial means some people agree with you, which can only upvote. those who dont agree with you can downvote AND flag it.
