Quite a few authoritarian countries like North Korea have startling long names that enumerate all the good qualities they don’t have. These can blow out the layout of dropdown lists and other UI elements which can be quite irksome.<p>Having your own list of ISO country codes with the names filled in from an authoritative source is a good thing but you will probably want to edit the names of a few countries depending on politics and how much room you have in the UI.
