tl;dr: Marriage rate went from 7-8 per 1000 before the pandemic to 5.1 per 1000. But in 2022 rebounded to 6.2. Headline insinuates something different.
tl;dr2: Divorce rate was 4 per 1000 in 2000. By 2022 dropped to 2.4 per 1,000.
Out of my butt theory. People put off marriage during the pandemic. And the social isolation de-primed the relationship pump. Divorce is on a long term downward trend. Probably because married men are more attuned to the new relationship normal.
