“Hotter than expected.”<p>“Faster than expected.”<p>“Sooner than expected.”<p>Scientific predictions are exceedingly conservative on purpose. Maybe we need to be exposing that fact a little more vigorously. Because right now, most any climate scientist who is looking at the whole picture - or even a decent chunk of it - is in a state of strong panic and existential dread. The unpublished data - which cannot be published without more data or more thorough analysis - is painting a very bleak picture for the latter half of the century, with conditions that will be fatal for over half of the world’s population. And that is <i>before</i> chaotic weather causes the collapse of the industrial agriculture that almost 100% of humanity depends on.
