I can’t help but think that this is all payback to the collective west for the Opium wars of the 19th century.
If so, China won’t stop, even if the US govt asks nicely.
The question is: what will the US do about it?

Blaming China will not resolve an US problem. People can get popped when carrying narcotics, as little as 50g heroin for example, in or out of China without proper paper works. So large amount of fentanyl must get into US through proper channel with proper documents, or it simply cannot get out of China. I don't see how China can be held responsible for something circulating in US.

China remembers the Opium Wars and wants to get even.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
