I don't really understand the Japanese obsession with removing human contact everywhere.<p>I've seen videos of restaurants where you sit down in a closed booth, order from a touchscreen, and the food comes out of a slot. It's so weird. This doesn't seem like cost optimization through automation because behind the wall people are still working, it was just human contact avoidance for the sake of it.<p>Here in Spain we enjoy dining with many people and this kind of automated service would be so clinical and terrible. I'm glad I don't live in Japan :)
