Ask HN: What tools do you use for computational biology?

1 pointsby kesavvaranasiabout 1 year ago
I'm looking to learn about computational tools for computational biology and synthetic biology workflows. I see that many people use Colab notebooks for running protein structure prediction models (Alphafold, ESMFold, etc) and even generative design models (RFDiffusion). But these notebooks time out frequently.
There are also "Cloud labs", which let you outsource laboratory work. I'm interested in seeing if anyone is working on building software that integrates with these lab infra providers and improves the Design-Build-Test-Learn loop - something like AWS for SynBio.
What will future tools for computational biologists and protein engineers look like? I think there's a lot of momentum behind the emerging "TechBio" field.
