Vibescape 2.0 for Apple Vision Pro

Hey everyone, I wanted to share something I've been working SO hard on – a new version of Vibescape for Apple Vision Pro.
Vibescape is an immersive meditation app that I first launched on day one of Apple Vision Pro's release. That version was heavily centered around Spatial Videos I shot on location in the Pacific Northwest during a dramatically beautiful ice storm. (On our farm where we've been working on the restoration and conservation of around 20 acres of vanishing native ecosystems, like an oak woodland and upland prairie.)
The app was featured by Apple including in Best Spatial Apps – but many users expected more from the immersive environments part of the app, and I knew I had a high bar I wanted to clear.
After really living with the device, studying Apple's own incredible environments, I had to completely rethink my approach. I set about completely revamping the quality, and version 2.0's new Forest Ledge environment is the result of that work – and the first of more to come.
While the version 1 environments stretched texture maps over spheres, this new environment has significantly more depth, resolution, and overall immersiveness. The background plates for instance, are an order of magnitude more detailed in resolution. There are layers of depth and atmosphere. Foreground elements were photogrammetry scanned. And the ambient audio was captured on location for maximum authenticity.
My plan is to go into depth on all of this in an upcoming series, as I know a lot of other developers are hoping to create immersive content – something I hope will be of value to others.
Would love to hear what you think, including where you'd like to see this go next. If you have a Vision Pro, please leave a review – they really help us indie developers.
Thanks for reading!
Gregory
