There are already so many sources of protein that don't require animal-concentration-camp farms. Here in the USA we could stand to eat more fungi, for example. We humans could also not be so numerous. Taking for granted our growing population (why is it growing so much? What is imbalanced?) enables us to carry on rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
We already have what we need for humanity to continue awhile longer in healthier ways. I'm not convinced that tech-ing our way forward is anywhere near as effective as changing our culture.
Reduce first, then reuse, and as a last resort, recycle. The more of our trash that is compostable, usefully biodegradable, or inert, the better. This will require significant shifts in the status quo. It will likely involve letting go of these devices we spend do much time on.
