Is learning Python worth it for an aspiring sysadmin?

1 pointsby shivajikobardanabout 1 year ago
I am planning my entire year, 2024. And Most(50%) of the chunk of my time for the first 4-5 months has been dedicated to python.
I need to re-evaluate if learning python is worth for me at this stage of my career.
I just started my career as a product support engineer. And I am marching towards being a sysadmin.
My goal of learning programming is not clear. I am learning because everybody in reddit said so. I do realize that learning TO PROGRAM is extremely valuable.
BUT,I've other priorities that I immediately need to learn(which I actually use on my job or similar jobs). They are:
- docker
- kubernetes
- SQL administration
- intermediate Linux topics like servers(mail,DNS...),LVMs etc
- Ansible
- Git
The hesitation is due to the fact that I've attempted and wasted lots of time learning to program because it never made me click and I'm not hopeful it'd click now.
