it has twice attempted to drive directly into a passing train
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Oddly reminiscent of this early Tesla fatal crash in 2018, where the driver previously complained about the car directing him into a highway barrier which eventually killed him:
https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/03/29/tesla-crash-victims-f...
To the credit of Elon Musk and his minions ; you can clearly see what's happening (via the video recording), so obviously vision-only FSD could work, just the AI tech isn't developed yet.
So it's not really a vision-only FSD issue.
Well, there's your problem right there. Assuming that Tesla's "FSD" mode is actually self-driving, even with an alert driver, is a big and sometimes fatal mistake.
Just another complaint that Tesla's marketing has little relation to reality. Who knew?
