My first exposure to Unix was at college in computer labs full of X terminals all logging in to Alpha servers running Digital Unix (it was a DEC school). Then I installed RedHat on my own computer, and didn&#x27;t even own a computer running Windows for the next 20 years...<p>Lots of nostalgia for that kind of environment.

You can still do this.<p>Hey, you could even use a Raspberry Pi as a terminal.<p>Not sure how the advent of Wayland changes things, but I would hope its creators would have the good sense to still make it possible.
