I'm hearing this all over the place right now, feels like it means something along the lines of feature, how does everyone else understand it?

In software, I first heard &quot;surfaces&quot; used about 30 years ago in the context of computer security (attack surfaces).<p>In general, I interpret it as a five dollar word that means &quot;where the world interacts with the software&quot;.
