Ask HN: Do you see the AI/Nvidia bubble popping any time soon?

4 pointsby upmind12 months ago
As Nvidia just recently became the second most valuable company in the world, do you see this hype leaving any time soon/another AI winter?

Depending on who you ask, we may have already reached the peak or local maximum for AI with current technology. In which case the investment hype might deflate.
But I would still be bullish in the long term for GPU manufacturing. Between blockchain, AR/VR, AI, and just cryptography in general - it seems like all the computing technologies of the future are heavily GPU dependent. Even if AI flops, it seems like something will come along and drive demand for GPUs.

Read https://situational-awareness.ai/
If you can't develop a counter-argument to that, there's no reason to believe another AI winter is coming.

Nvidia no. All the new LLM driven products from the last year or so, yes.

All hype bubbles have points of fear which can cause them to pop. The hype around Nvidia will be no different.
Same sort of hype bubbles happened with Intel, Cisco, etc in the late 1990s into to the 2000s.

I think that the bubble has a couple more years in it, but I do think it will inevitably pop.
