Ask HN: Did your Stripe test credit cards expire in April too?

1 pointsby Timothee12 months ago
Just wanted to give a heads-up for a funny story I just found out, and see if others had the same issue.
I was testing a few things around billing locally and my test accounts showed an expired subscription. That seemed weird, but maybe someone else was testing some things on that account?
No, the "payment" failed last month and the subscriptions were canceled as a result.
The payment failed because the credit card had expired.
And the credit card had expired because Stripe uses `4242 4242 4242 4242` as their default test credit card and I have learned to just type 4 and 2 until all the fields are filled in. So the expiration date was filled in as 4/24 a long time ago and last April was finally 4/24. :)
I can't be the only one, right?
---
For future reference, here's the documentation about Stripe's test payment methods: https://docs.stripe.com/testing
