This is an ad for a particular company. The article doesn't include any support for their claim that their service is of greater benefit to local hosts.
However, the general advice given seems sensible. I've traveled in this way before, without using external services, and had lovely trips / experiences.
I was unaware of https://njt.net/, which seems like it's worth looking into.

That's sort of no brainer for those experienced with travelling on their own, not within some sort of luxury bubbles shielding you from local reality that all-inclusive and luxury hotels provide.
Using local people will simply give you much more intense and better integrated experience, plus it costs less, plus you are directly supporting hard working locals, which then trickle down to local economy.
I would never travel to some remote mountains or do some paragliding and join organized group of say UK or US guides if I can avoid it. Experiencing local people is often the best part of travel experience overall, chasing other's instagram pictures is... slightly idiotic and rather disappointing.
