Well, reading <a href="https://academia.stackexchange.com/" rel="nofollow">https://academia.stackexchange.com/</a> every now and then makes me pretty convinced this kind of behavior is not confined to China.<p>The "publish or perish" mindset does <i>not</i> seem to produce particularly healthy results.
Makes sense to me.
