I’ve been working as a software developer for about 15 years and I decided that I would get a masters in AI, I am just starting and I realize that I don’t know very much about the topic and would like to improve my base level understanding of the field more to get the most out of my classes. Does anyone have reading recommendations I can do to better understand the field? Thanks in advance
If you go to the OpenAI developer forum, and search for this thread, there are lots of academic papers "Foundational must read GPT/LLM papers". I just graduated from a masters a few days ago, so can appreciate the hard work involved. Good luck, it'll be worth it!
Ask your adviser. Asking your advisor for advice is your job for the next few years. Once you have classmates, ask them what they are reading.
Ask your advisor for people to add to your network. Add those people. Ask them what they are doing. If it is interesting ask them what you can read.
Eat the elephant one byte at a time. Good luck.
