This story has always fascinated me, because it at least strikes me as realistic.<p>Allegedly, the guy had no idea how he came to be in Mexico City. He shared information that there is no rational way he could have had, and it was later collaborated by others.<p>He was arrested and accused of witchcraft - I've never read of anyone believing him until his story was confirmed months after the fact.<p>Then he just... disappears into history.<p>I wouldn't say I believe the story, but if a guy was actually suddenly transported around the world, the events in the story are about what I'd expect the reactions to be.
Before even reading the story my first thought was anesthesia + air travel as how it could be pulled off today without any teleportation/alien magic. But in 1593 that may as well be alien magic.
