It&#x27;s an electronic shusher. When unwanted brain waves are detected, a sound is produced and sent via bone conducting earphones. Similar to how you would prod your partner when they snore too loudly.

I&#x27;d bet a simple loudspeaker with pink noise wouldn&#x27;t fare worse (as in: that&#x27;s basically what is helping here, too).
