I've found myself recently out of work and back on the job market so I'm considering taking some popular software engineer certification exams to spice up the resume a bit.
*I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are on the value of certifications for software engineering specifically?* Any other related opinions on the matter are welcome as well.
I've rarely seen such things be valued in software engineering. I can't even think of a decent software dev cert.
For ops there are some vendors specific certs like the AWS or Microsoft certifications that used to carry weight. Currently, with the increased use of cloud services I'd probably lean toward AWS for SWE too.
In the past, the most valued certs were from Cisco for network engineering. Those were / are really good networking education even if you don't care about the cert.
