Show HN: Voice Out – Text-to-speech to read any webpage, Google Doc, or PDF

5 pointsby anilshanbhag10 months ago
Hey everyone
I'm the creator of Voice Out, and I'm super excited to share it with you!
Voice Out is a Chrome extension that lets you 'read' by listening. It turns any webpage, Google Doc, or PDF into speech with just a click. Now, you can go through your reading list while working, commuting, or doing chores.
I packed it with tons of languages and voices so you can customize your listening experience. And the best part? It's completely free! You can also enable commercial voices from OpenAI, Google, Azure, Amazon etc, using an API key. I set mine to use the OpenAI voice - it works great and costs almost nothing.
Voice Out will soon add support for three more TTS providers, support reading content inside iframes, and be able to create rules to transform site text (you can use this to rewrite links, bullet points, etc).
I'd love for you to try Voice Out and hear your thoughts!
