A little over two decades ago, before Facebook was a thing, I had the idea for a social network where your dislikes, as opposed to your likes, would be centre stage. Logic being that likes are too often boring and generic¹ while dislikes are specific, visceral, revealing, and sometimes comedic. It can be quite fun to riff with someone on your shared dislike of something innocuous like olives.<p>Looking at the state of the world, I’m glad I never pursued the idea.
