Ask HN: Is there any reason why I shouldn't get a .dev domain?

2 pointsby illusiveman9 months ago
Even though my three characters name is not that common, its .com is taken so I&#x27;m looking for alternatives.<p>I can get abc.dev though, it&#x27;s available in Namecheap for example. But my concern is, is .dev reliable? I know that past year Google sold the domains business, in fact, I moved some other domains I had registered in Google to a different registrar, so, as Google was (is?) the owner of .dev, I would like to know whether there are some reliability issues now like poor performance, spam, etc.

doesn&#x27;t matter what domain you own.
