The new RP2350 has a common problem that designers decided to solve in a unique way - by working with an inductor manufacturer to produce orientation-controlled wirewound power SMT inductors for this specific purpose.<p>Analogue design is difficult and while switching power supplies are more often being integrated into microprocessors than in the past, this issue illustrates how hardware engineers need to stay nimble and creative when problems come along. IMO this solution was necessary as the problem was found after manufacturing release.
