due in part to the practical application of an eponymous law of nature discovered by Dr. Murphy, the carousels are designed to always turn in the direction that takes your luggage away from wherever you are standing.
over 97% of the time, it is found to require more than 540 degrees of carousel rotation for your luggage to reach you, regardless of where you stand or move. this fact remains true for all passengers simultaneously. except for that one damn guy who got upgraded to 1st class and now his suitcases were first to come out right in front of him too (we collectively hate him).
note: this is statistically impossible, but airport bureaucracies and Dr. Murphy are clearly not subordinate to mathematics.
