Ask HN: Linux Tint, A Free as in Freedom distro with actual good UI

8 pointsby applestone9 months ago
the gnu project lists a few distros they approve of here. https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html It's beyond me why they dont put the most usable distros at the top of the list, but whatever. Trisquel linux actually boots and functions which is good. The only problem is the desktop env and logo are terrible. I think a big reason people use mint is branding. The desktop environment is great, clean, just works. The name is also easy to say. I propose a new distro that combines the ease of linux mint with the freedom of trisquel. Would people be interested in working on this project? Basically want it to be as easy as possible to use a free OS.
