It's not common knowledge, and I was surprised when I read it (not to have heard of it already - it's the kind of thing I would expect to know about), but in the years after Euromaidan and Putin's puppet was kicked out, there was ongoing Russian sabotage - detonation of - of UA ammunition dumps. IIRC, many hundreds of thousands of tons of artillery ammunition were lost.
IIR, the USSR lost a major ammo dump or few back during the cold war - because they just didn't spread their ammo dumps out enough to keep a tiny accident or malfunction from cascading into a full-facility loss.<p>It sounds like Russia's munitions storage practices are not any better.
