Hackers seek hackers in NYC for absurdly fun + challenging startup (YC W12)

1 pointsby waxmanalmost 13 years ago
We're leading the online-to-offline revolution. We use social technology to make your life better, not merely to reflect the life you already have (lookin' at you Facebook). Our ultimate goal is to end loneliness and to create some amazing stories along the way. Users have already created thousands of these stories (offline) through our product.
[fun product + hard problems]
We have way too much fun using our own product and solving super hard problems (making things happen offline is way harder than merely scaling some web app). We regularly tackle unchartered problems in algorithms, logistics, social behavior and UX.
[awesome business model]
We make money. We're a real business, not a charity. We've also raised money from some of the best investors in the world (including YC), which we haven't announced yet, but we'll gladly tell you when we chat.
[founders are hackers]
We're a tiny team still willing to give away full points of equity. Both of the co-founders are technical and have previous startup experience (including at other YC startups and an app that scaled to billions of impressions per month). We were fortunate enough to go to good schools (like MIT, Princeton, and Yale), but we're most proud of our hacking abilities, which they don't really teach you at those places.
[you]
We're looking for full-stack hackers who understand people and appreciate great design. We're in New York, but if you're not we can chat about getting you here to the greatest city on earth.
If you want to put a dent in the universe and have fun doing it we should probably talk. Shoot us an e-mail at social.hacker.nyc [at] gmail.com. No recruiters or "idea guys" please. Hackers only.
