Tell HN: LLMs finally allow amateurs to build simple software

5 pointsby galfarragem7 months ago
It's game-changing.
This may not be exactly game-changing among experienced programmers, but for me, as an amateur, it is: I just built two simple Chrome extensions with Claude that worked like a charm on the first attempt! I tried to build the same extensions some months ago, but despite the code looking good (I have built a couple of Chrome extensions 'by hand' myself), I didn't manage to debug them. Now they just work.

For experienced programmers, LLMs are useful to code in languages you are not familiar with, i.e. Golang.

Same! Pretty amazing to just speak ideas and have them come to life.
I am curious if there are better set ups that Claude or ChatGPT for coding? I'm sure there must be. Right now I have to cut and paste and often use multiple responses together. Curious if anyone has suggestions.
