I think part of the problem is we&#x27;re no longer guided by experimentation because the experiments have gotten too expensive. We now use mathematics to guide us to look for most likely outcomes and then conduct experiments to confirm those outcomes.<p>But I think the <i>real</i> crises is one of philosophy. We now believe that singularities, which were once considered to be indications of a flawed model, to be manifested in reality - such as the case with black holes. This is problematic when you&#x27;re using mathematics to guide you in conducting experiments.
