I personally don't take ANYTHING I read on ANY webpage, and that includes (anyname)wiki(anyname).(domain) websites. Wikipedia you may have been around and that's great that you have for reference and such. As far as actual human history goes though, I'd take all of it with a giant piece of rocksalt.<p>Why? Because regardless of what anyone says, nothing on the internet can be truly unbiased AND not offsensive to (someone, somewhere).<p>You would have to offend a whole lot of people to do that, and as we've seen that never lasts long before being blasted clean off the face of the planet.<p>Sure the more general topics that everyone accepts may be mostly correct (we can agree the sky is blue). But when you get down to things that are sensitive (about what people ABC that did XYZ back in 123 did, thought, are, etc) it becomes touchy, and often gives rise to flamewars which as we know are all but snuffed out.<p>The death of the top-level flamewar has proven that people can't handle the truth. Flame wars (were) the evidence that actual humans were expressing their opinions on beliefs to one another in a very free manner---but wait... we can NOT have that!!! oh no!!!! lets see what should we do then... oh i know... so... git rid of it! (*<i>muffled, mostly inaudible struggling heard from the background noise*</i>) Ah there!! that's better, nice politically correct encyclopedias for all! Oh sure!! they're correct, `cause we said they are, That's why! We can't be lying if we've been on the internet all this time!!! And especially those of us who have a stock ticker--we are the most correct cause our money says so!! right?!!
