Hi all,
Was just browsing my old portfolio website and remembered this little game I made a few years ago.
Decided to share for anyone currently struggling to get their first web dev job.
Focusing on having a live website that is something a bit out of the ordinary and something you enjoyed doing goes a long way!
This was just a project to learn HTML canvas, and over some time I developed into a functional mini game.
This got me hired, because during the interview with the CTO for my first web dev job we talked mostly about personal projects and this was one of the ones that we talked about mostly.
Code is not much at all, a spaghetti mess I would say, but in the end it's a project thats working and live on the web for anyone to play.
I sent it for a few of my friends and family and most of them actually played for at least 10 minutes as they were then competing for who got the highest level.
It's not much at all I know, today chat GPT could probably create it in 5 minutes
For me the actual value is actually in having something you created yourself based off an idea, live on the web, mostly coherent and without obvious bugs or spelling errors and can actually be fun to play for a few minutes.
