At the AWS re:Invent 2022 conference, they had a Rivian AWS vehicle on display. We got to take a peek inside and see all the tech. If I were a delivery person, I’d love to drive that thing!
One of the demonstrators showed me the software in the truck. They can add notes for each address, like ‘be careful, this person has a mean dog’. It was really exciting to see how they’re using technology to make deliveries more efficient and safe.
I live in Michigan. I got so excited about the tech inside that I thought it could be a cool place to work, especially since Rivian is headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan. Unfortunately, they do most of their software development on the West Coast. In the Midwest, we continually hear companies saying they need more tech talent, but their actions don’t match their messaging.
