Hopefully a sign of things to come. There can be incredible leverage in the public sector funding open source projects that have explicit public good character. The amounts involved are really ridiculous compared to pretty much any public sector expense. Yet the impact can be dramatic, both as a tangible service (e.g., openstreetmap is a fantastic resource for hikes) and as way to bind digital communities with non-commercial bonds.

This is great news!<p>Getting goggle out of our physical navigation is a huge step forward.<p>Now, if Sovereign Tech would invest in a non-goggle search mechanism, we wouldn&#x27;t depend on 1 monopolistic exploitive for profit company to access the information of the internet...<p>Make HTML semantic with integrated search!
