I've never been a writer as a novelist. I wrote many blog posts, but never something meaningful. Recently I've started to looking at typewriters and fell in love in Smith Corona, so I bought Silent from 1946. Immediately after I started writing, novel started writing itself. I found that weird feeling, that I'm not a writer but just a channel or medium for that story to go through me on a paper. Anybody had this feeling before?
Thats really cool! I'd love to get into type-writers, there is something great about the fact that you can't undo your mistakes, and have to finish your flow.
And, if it ever breaks - you get the joy of mechanical fixes!
What are you currently writing about?
That's great!!
My brother is a writer that's been struggling with his own personal projects (a novel he hasn't touched in years). He JUST got a Freewrite for Xmas and was already caught writing again.
I hope it sticks for you both.
That's a nice feeling, we need a new word for it.
I experience something similar when using certain vintage cameras. I am particularly fond of Zeiss Ikon folders from the 50s, in their own way they approach engineering perfection within their design philosophy (which is very different from the SLRs that came soon after). For me they do seem to be leading me to produce images that I would not normally consider, that require more effort and planning. Thanks for your post, I will carry on ploughing that furrow!
Good luck with the novel, do you have a title yet?
