I agree I was shadowbanned in December 23. My account was several years old, had high karma and was rarely downvoted. I can not get any response to my appeals.
I feel like this will be short lived. Reddit has such incredibly toxic models for moderation, that it becomes unusable to anyone who doesn’t fit its mods or admins desired ideologies. If you post in some subreddits, others will ban you automatically. If you get downvoted as a new member of a subreddit, they may silently shadowban you for having a low score. Want to discuss some topic that is controversial like the lab leak theory? Prepare to be banned across the entire site. It’s a massive echo chamber as a result, and it can get tiresome for anyone who doesn’t fit the mold exactly, even if they mostly agree with it.<p>I find it’s best used like stack overflow - search it through your favorite search engine for answers, but otherwise steer clear and avoid participating. That eventually leads to the site dying though. The ads won’t be seen by real users. And AI data licensing will fall in value as new user driven content disappears.
