Ask HN: How to program your long term career as a developer?

1 pointsby mrcnkoba5 months ago
Hi HN crowd.
I'm a software developer with 12 years of experience across four companies. I've successfully implemented structure into other areas of my life, like strength training and my off-work schedule, which have helped keep my life relatively stress-free and organized.
I'm looking to apply a similar structured approach to my career development to prevent burnout and enhance my growth. I find the typical advice of reading blog posts and staying curious a bit meh and eventually overwhelming over time. Things that I consider would be enrolling for some online course and staying consistent with it. The problem remains how to properly curate the content to consume?
Does anyone have suggestions or experiences with structured career development plans that have worked well, especially for more seasoned professionals? Anecdotally I remember myself from 10 years ago thinking how my older colleagues aren't even reading an interesting article a day(!). Now I think I'm in similar shoes.
