We came out of the YC batch having pivoted a day before demo day (ouch) and started the arduous process of finding a new idea. We lined up a bunch of calls with founders and quickly learned that handling pricing kinda sucks….
There are so many ways to price software today, with AI making usage-based and success-based pricing more popular. Founders want to test these models but struggle to deal with feature gating, billing systems, plan versioning etc.
Autumn is an abstraction layer between the application and Stripe to control price plans and feature entitlement. You can wrap your code with our feature flags, and send us events for metered features. You can then create any pricing plans (whether usage-based, credits, subscriptions) and control your customers entitlements.
We’re also quickly realizing that the hard part is creating a system that can deal with a wide range of pricing models. Everyone we speak to seems to have a different requirement and TBD if it’s even possible.
Do you guys agree that pricing is getting harder? We still have a bunch to learn and would love to chat with you if it’s interesting!
