If you were given the choice between a human interview (that you have to wait for) and an instant AI interview, would you accept the AI version? How would you feel about it?
The basic issue is that any level of interviewing that a current level AI could achieve, could also be achieved by the person filling out a form or questionaire and then having an AI review their answers.
I guess the advantage (to the company) is that an AI interview could be conducted in real time so it would be harder, although far from impossible, for the interviewee to cheat.
But what's the benefit to the interviewee? Purely negative as far as I can see. Added time wasted in an extra interview compared to filling out a form at pleasure, and also the dehumanizing effect of being interviewed by a computer.
Been working in HR tech startup. Meeting a person is is preferable since it indicates company is much more interested and invested in actually filing the role.
If it's just basic data collection (e.g. name, email, work eligibility) then the correct answer is neither, it should be something I can fill out asynchronously, or better yet auto-filled (with review and confirmation) from my resume.
