Hi HN
I'm developing an electronic board book to teach children the basics of chess and for the last few months have had issues with my meta ad account being blocked. I recently moved to India and setup the account there but I used my UK payment details when trying to pay for a test ad, which is what I suspect triggered the automatic block.
As this is a new business I have no contacts within Meta to help me unblock my account, it's been incredibly frustrating raising appeal after appeal with no reply. As a last hurrah before probably just creating a new account I thought it would be worth asking here if
1. Anyone has been able to successfully unblock their ad account after being in a similar situation and if so how they did it
and/or
2. Any of my fellow HN readers who currently work at meta would be able to help me unblock my ad account
Thank you
PS I guess it feels weird to trust random strangers online but to give context that I am in fact a real person with a real product here is a link to the product I am working on
https://www.chessfunforlittleones.com/
Your project looks interesting. Three recommendations:
1) Try posting your project "chessfunforlittleones" again. You posted it 5 months ago and it didn't get a lot of traction, so a repost is fine scording to the FAQ https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html . (But don't repost too much.)
2) The old post has a few comments from green account. They looks like too much like sockpuppets or something similar. It's a bad idea. From the FAQ
> Can I ask people to upvote my submission?
> No. Users should vote for a story because they personally find it intellectually interesting, not because someone has content to promote. We penalize or ban submissions, accounts, and sites that break this rule, so please don't.
> Can I ask people to comment on my submission?
> No, for the same reason. It's also not in your interest: HN readers are sensitive to this and will detect it, flag it, and use unkind words like 'spam'.
3) In the repost add a comments explaining that you are the author and your problem with Fb. People is more friendly when the author is around repliying questions. I think your project is interesting and may gain some traction here and perhaps someone can help with your problem. (But I obviously can't guaranty neither.)
