They should. The practice of bankrupting people if you can’t get a conviction is a disgrace.<p>I know a few people this has happened to. Well off family, two doctor parents. Police get their panties up in a bunch over trying to look hard core, trump up charges, next thing you know they’re on the verge of losing everything. Even when being declared innocent and the newspaper publishing the criminal misconduct of the police, including the mysterious losing of evidence that would show their innocence.
