I would add that this is important in more areas besides "tech" (if it needs repair it is probably some form of technology). Fixing things from clothing to cars is a great way to learn now to do things and how things work. It can point the ways to make things better. It can show how to do (as well) with less. It can be enjoyable and something to be proud of. It can provide employment.<p>There are time when we should move on and toss out the old (or just broken) but fixing things rather than giving up too soon can lead to better outcomes.
