These are very basic and I'm not so sure how helpful unless you're interested in the history of Linux/Unix.
Author does get the registry wrong -- it can be modified via PoSh and even browsed like any other directory structure thanks to the built-in PSProvider. Most apps today use config files anyhow, just like any other Unix distribution.
Arguably operating on text via your shell of choice can be very complicated, very confusing especially if you're not familiar with sed, awk and the like, versus operating on an object with properties and methods easily discoverable via 'gm' (or Get-Help).
It's all down to philosophy, and NT is anti-Unix by design, for better or for worse. Use both, learn both.

Bottom line: Unix is focused on programmability --- not to be confused with usability.
